<image:title>About - About Us & Rescues</image:title>
<image:caption>Sand Creek Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization that primarily rescues, Pregnant Mares, Mares with Foals, and Stallions. These are the hardest to place of all horses in need. Pregnant mares need extensive vet care as well as a very specialized nutritional program, this is the same for the mare and foal, once the foal arrives. Two horses are always more expensive to care for than just one. Stallions are hard to home as well; not only do they require a specialized nutritional program, they are hard to house as they can't be near other horses in some cases. Here at SCR, we love both Mares and Stallions, we do our best to keep them mentally and physically stimulated. We leave no one behind. SCR Giving Hope to those with no hope.</image:caption>

<image:title>Sanctuary Horses - Gulch</image:title>
<image:caption>"Carry Gulch (ARG)" came to SCR in September 2011. Gulch raced in Argentina, but only had a handful of races in the states. Gulch has an incredible personality and is such a sweet stallion. He is even our foal babysitter, when we wean the colts, they go next to Gulch. But Gulch has been plagued with hoof problems. He has foundered twice and recovered from white line disease. His expensive and extensive medical problems have convinced us that he is better suited to live out his like of retirement here at SCR.</image:caption>

<image:title>Sanctuary Horses - Star</image:title>
<image:caption>"Star Light" Is a registered 17 year old Arabian mare. She came to SCR with a body condition score of 2 with a foal at her side. We believe she has a history of abuse in her past including being ear twitched to the point, that even putting a halter on her can be terrifying. She will twitch when first touched and has not learned to enjoy the human touch. Star enjoys living in a herd. She can be handled enough for medical and hoof care. Years of abuse has taken a toll on her mentally, and it will best suit her to stay within a herd at SCR for the remainder of her life.</image:caption>

<image:title>In Memory Of - Teddy</image:title>
<image:caption>Teddy was a Percheron Gelding. He came to us at the ripe old age of 27. His owners walked him to the Lancaster Shelter. He remained there a year. No interest in this huge draft horse with medical problems. We could not let him die in the shelter, so we took him in. Anticipating him only living a short while in his condition, we wanted his last days to be filled with love and food. 5 years later we had to make the most difficult decision to humanely euthanize him June 21, 2014, due to his extreme arthritis and pain, at the recommendation of our vet. Teddy will be missed by both his heard mates and his humans.</image:caption>
